The course provides a structured, exam-focused learning pathway aligned with the current CRSP® Examination Blueprint, helping candidates develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence required to successfully pass the certification examination and apply occupational health and safety best practices in real-world workplace environments.

You are a strong fit for this course if you are:

  • A safety manager, health and safety officer, safety coordinator, safety consultant, occupational hygienist, risk management professional, supervisor, or workplace safety practitioner preparing to sit the CRSP® certification examination
  • A professional working in construction, manufacturing, oil and gas, mining, transportation, utilities, healthcare, government, education, or other industries seeking an internationally respected occupational health and safety credential
  • A candidate who meets BCRSP eligibility requirements and wants a structured study framework, practice questions, case studies, mock examinations, and exam-day strategies to prepare with confidence

BCRSP eligibility requirements for the CRSP® certification:

Before enrolling, confirm that you can satisfy BCRSP requirements, because this course prepares you for the examination but does not itself make you CRSP®-eligible. BCRSP currently requires candidates to meet the approved education and professional experience requirements listed on the official CRSP® certification page.

  • Hold a recognized post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in occupational health and safety or an approved equivalent qualification recognized by BCRSP
  • Demonstrate the required professional-level occupational health and safety work experience as specified by BCRSP
  • Submit an approved CRSP® application and meet all eligibility verification requirements established by BCRSP
  • Successfully pass the CRSP® certification examination and comply with continuing professional development requirements to maintain the credential

Final certification requires passing the CRSP® examination and maintaining the credential through BCRSP's continuing professional development requirements. BCRSP may review applications and request supporting documentation to verify education, occupational health and safety qualifications, and professional work experience. For the most current eligibility criteria and certification policies, candidates should review the official CRSP® certification page.

If you meet the education and professional experience requirements above, you are ready to enroll and prepare for the CRSP® examination with confidence. If you do not yet meet the required eligibility criteria, gaining additional occupational health and safety experience or obtaining an approved educational qualification is the recommended next step before pursuing the CRSP® credential. All instruction is delivered in English.

Entry Requirements

To enroll in the Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)® Examination Preparation course, you should be an occupational health and safety professional preparing to sit the CRSP® certification examination. The course itself has open entry, but the CRSP® credential you are preparing for has formal eligibility requirements established by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP), and you should confirm you can meet them before you begin.

To take this preparation course:

  • Working experience in occupational health and safety, risk management, industrial hygiene, environmental health and safety, compliance, or a related role is recommended, as the material is delivered at the professional, exam-ready level
  • A sound understanding of workplace health and safety principles is beneficial, since this course focuses on examination preparation rather than introductory safety training
  • All instruction and assessment are delivered in English, so professional proficiency in English is required

To be eligible for the CRSP® certification through BCRSP, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a recognized post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in occupational health and safety or an approved equivalent qualification accepted by BCRSP
  • Possess the required professional-level occupational health and safety work experience as specified by BCRSP eligibility standards
  • Submit a complete CRSP® application and provide supporting documentation for education and professional experience verification
  • Successfully pass the CRSP® certification examination and maintain the credential through BCRSP continuing professional development requirements

Please note that this course prepares you for the examination and does not by itself grant CRSP® eligibility. BCRSP may review applications and request supporting documentation to verify education, qualifications, and occupational health and safety experience claims. Because BCRSP sets and periodically updates certification requirements, candidates should confirm the current eligibility criteria on the official CRSP® certification page before applying. If you do not yet meet the required education or professional experience requirements, obtaining an approved qualification and gaining additional occupational health and safety experience are the recommended next steps before pursuing the CRSP® certification.

Certification Pathway

This course is the examination preparation program that helps you build the knowledge, practical understanding, and exam readiness needed to successfully earn the CRSP® credential. Understanding where CRSP® fits within the occupational health and safety profession can help you plan your professional development journey more effectively.

The BCRSP professional pathway

  • Occupational Health and Safety Education and Experience (your foundation): Before pursuing the CRSP® certification, candidates must meet BCRSP eligibility requirements, including recognized occupational health and safety education and relevant professional-level work experience. Many professionals begin their safety career journey through roles such as safety officer, safety coordinator, safety advisor, occupational hygienist, risk management specialist, environmental health and safety practitioner, or safety consultant.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)®: YOU ARE PREPARING FOR THIS. CRSP® is BCRSP's premier certification for occupational health and safety professionals and validates your ability to identify hazards, assess and control risks, develop safety management systems, ensure regulatory compliance, conduct investigations, promote workplace health and safety, and provide professional safety leadership across diverse industries. CRSP® credential holders are recognized for their expertise in protecting workers, improving organizational safety performance, and supporting continuous improvement in occupational health and safety programs.
  • Maintain your certification: After earning the CRSP® credential, certification holders must maintain it through BCRSP's continuing professional development requirements. This ensures CRSP® professionals remain current with evolving occupational health and safety legislation, standards, technologies, risk management practices, and industry best practices.

This Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)® Examination Preparation course is the structured, exam-focused training that bridges the gap between meeting BCRSP eligibility requirements and walking into the examination with confidence. It does not replace the BCRSP application process or grant CRSP® eligibility; instead, it maps your study directly to the current CRSP® Examination Blueprint, reinforces every competency area with realistic workplace safety scenarios, practice questions, and mock examinations, and equips you with the examination strategies that distinguish a successful CRSP® candidate.

  • Fee: CRSP® examination fees, application fees, and certification-related costs are determined by BCRSP and may change periodically. Candidates should consult the official BCRSP website for current fees, policies, and examination information.
  • Scheduling and delivery: Once approved, candidates can schedule the examination through BCRSP's authorized examination delivery system and take the examination at approved testing locations or through available examination delivery options, subject to current BCRSP policies.
  • Results: Candidates typically receive examination results according to BCRSP's established reporting procedures, along with information regarding certification status and next steps.
  • After you pass: Successful candidates earn the CRSP® credential and must maintain certification by meeting BCRSP continuing professional development requirements and complying with ongoing certification maintenance policies.

How this course prepares you for it:

Your preparation is mapped directly to the current CRSP® Examination Blueprint and its competency areas. The course reinforces each area through realistic workplace safety scenarios, hazard identification exercises, risk assessment activities, incident investigation case studies, regulatory compliance applications, exam-style questions, mock examinations, and practical occupational health and safety problem-solving exercises. Special emphasis is placed on safety leadership, risk management, occupational hygiene, safety management systems, workplace inspections, emergency preparedness, regulatory compliance, and examination strategies. The goal is not only to master the CRSP® body of knowledge but to enter the examination with the confidence, analytical thinking, and professional judgment required for success.
