Course Overview
The Developing a COVID Prevention Program course offered by the American Institute of Safety Professionals teaches employers, safety professionals, and managers how to provide appropriate protection to workers and keep a safe and compliant workplace during and post COVID-19. This course is based on OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) guidance, and prioritizes assisting organizations to identify, evaluate, and mitigate COVID-19 exposure risks for all employees including vaccinated, unvaccinated, and immunocompromised employees. This includes the employees who are at risk. Attendees learn to prepare and execute a tailored comprehensive program aimed at COVID-19 prevention which consists of program elements based on OSHA guidelines including vaccination program advocacy, workplace testing, mask mandates, physical distancing, hygiene protocols, and partnerships with local public health entities. This training describes the difference between OSHA’s mandatory compliance standards and advisory standards to ensure that learners appreciate the compliance passage, the proactive protection measures, and the best practices. Using interactive and case-based learning approaches, the course emphasizes the importance of the provision of paid time off for vaccination and recovery during services, the importance of communication and risk evaluation in the areas of substantial community transmission, and the substantial or high ongoing transmission of the virus. By the conclusion of the course, learners will have the skills to develop workplace specific protocols, which will boost employee morale, lessen operational impacts, and advance public health.
