- Introduction to bloodborne pathogens, including the types of diseases that can be transmitted through contact with contaminated blood or other bodily fluids.
- Identifying the sources and routes of bloodborne pathogen transmission in the workplace.
- Implementing standard precautions to prevent exposure, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the proper disposal of contaminated materials.
- Understanding the requirements of the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard and the employer's exposure control plan.
- Proper procedures for handling and disposing of potentially contaminated materials, including sharps and biohazardous waste.
- The importance of proper hand hygiene and the use of hand sanitizers.
- Procedures for responding to and reporting exposure incidents, including the availability of post-exposure medical evaluation and follow-up.
- The role of Hepatitis B vaccine and the importance of being vaccinated.
- The importance of regular training and education on bloodborne pathogens and exposure prevention.
