Course Overview
The Environmental Sustainability and Global Change course offered by the American Institute of Safety Professionals provides participants a research-driven comprehension of the science, policy, and practicality of integrating tools for managing the challenges of the environment and promoting sustainability in organizations. The course focuses on the application of ecodynamics, climatology, and environmental management systems in the climate change/global change/sustainable development interface, climate change, deforestation, loss of biodiversity, and depletion of natural resources. Participants analyze sustainability practices within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), mainly: SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), and SDG 13 (Climate Action), and the environmental stewardship of operational and corporate processes. The course presents ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems, ISO 50001:2018 Energy Management Systems, and Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), as tools for organizations to manage, control, assess, report, and mitigate environmental sustainability challenges. Participants analyze climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, and carbon accounting and climate change reports prepared in line with the standards of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). This course focuses on practical topics like assessing the lifecycle of a product, minimizing waste, efficient use of energy, incorporation of renewable energy, and construction of sustainable supply chains. These topics are all supported by the long-term benefits to organizations and society as shown by environmental research. By the end of the course, participants will be able to evaluate environmental risks, plan and implement mitigation strategies, enact and integrate organizational sustainability plans, build organizational cultures that embrace economic and ecologic balance, and ensure compliance to global environmental standards as a positive contribution to resilient and sustainable communities.

Mode of Delivery
Participants will receive online training through Microsoft Teams and LMS. Courses are offered by accredited broadcasters and backed by expert instruction and official study materials. All assessments are conducted online and successful participants are awarded certificates that are accepted internationally.

Entry Requirements
This program follows global workplace health and safety standards, and is taught by industry experts. Successful students receive an American Institute of Safety Professionals accredited certificate which is recognized by several employers and regulatory bodies. Graduates receive a master certificate, course completion certificate (if applicable), an official transcript, a wallet card, and access to a professional safety network which promotes ongoing learning and career growth.
Program Duration
The program is designed to offer flexible online learning with a minimum instructional contact time of 8 hours. Most learners successfully complete the course within one month, allowing them to progress at their own pace while balancing professional commitments.
Examination
Candidates can take this exam through an assigned portal from the American Institute of Safety Professionals. A passing score is 70% or higher, and exam results are provided right after by email to the address provided. The exam is open-book, allowing candidates to validate their answers. Any candidates who do not pass have 1 month after their exam to go through the training materials and can take the exam 3 additional times.

This training program is intended to provide entry-level general industry workers information about their rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint as well as how to identify, abate, avoid and prevent job related hazards on a job site. The training covers a variety of general industry safety and health hazards which a worker may encounter at a work site. Training should emphasize hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention, not OSHA standards.
