Course Overview
The Construction Industry Safety Trainer course offered by the American Institute of Safety Professionals to qualify and develop highly efficient safey professionals who have what it takes to teach and mentor construction team members on OSHA compliance. Based on OSHA 29 CFR 1910.12, this course teaches the application of general industry standards and laws to construction work, and teaches the legal responsibilities of the participants under the Occupational Safety and Health Act. The training delineates the general industry and construction safety requirements and takes the adoption of Part 1926 standards as the primary focus which must be followed for every construction-related task, which involves construction, alteration, repair, painting, and decorating. Learners will identify how employers are to protect the workers, as well as create a safe and accommodating workplace as stated in OSHA’s provisions. The course also explains the differences between Construction Safety Act and the Occupational Safety and Health Act, and how each applies to contractors, subcontractors, and employers. Participants will understand OSHA’s construction operation and electrical transmission and distribution contracts. Safety trainers will complete the course having the ability to provide site safety training, complete hazard assessments, and encourage compliance to safety programs. This course is designed for safety officers, supervisors, and trainers who want to improve safety culture, minimize risks, and achieve compliance for all construction projects.

Upon completing the Construction Industry Safety Trainer program, participants will be able to:

Mode of Delivery
Participants will receive online training through Microsoft Teams and LMS. Courses are offered by accredited broadcasters and backed by expert instruction and official study materials. All assessments are conducted online and successful participants are awarded certificates that are accepted internationally.

Entry Requirements
This program follows global workplace health and safety standards, and is taught by industry experts. Successful students receive an American Institute of Safety Professionals accredited certificate which is recognized by several employers and regulatory bodies. Graduates receive a master certificate, course completion certificate (if applicable), an official transcript, a wallet card, and access to a professional safety network which promotes ongoing learning and career growth.
Program Duration
The program is designed to offer flexible online learning with a minimum instructional contact time of 8 hours. Most learners successfully complete the course within one month, allowing them to progress at their own pace while balancing professional commitments.
Examination
Candidates can take this exam through an assigned portal from the American Institute of Safety Professionals. A passing score is 70% or higher, and exam results are provided right after by email to the address provided. The exam is open-book, allowing candidates to validate their answers. Any candidates who do not pass have 1 month after their exam to go through the training materials and can take the exam 3 additional times.

This training program is intended to provide entry-level general industry workers information about their rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint as well as how to identify, abate, avoid and prevent job related hazards on a job site. The training covers a variety of general industry safety and health hazards which a worker may encounter at a work site. Training should emphasize hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention, not OSHA standards.
