Course Overview
The General Worker Safety course from the American Institute of Safety Professionals provides universal safety awareness for workers in every industry: manufacturing, warehousing, retail, hospitality, office, healthcare, education, and any workplace. This is the broadest worker-level safety course, covering the hazards and safe practices that apply regardless of industry: slips/trips/falls, manual handling, chemical awareness, fire safety, electrical awareness, PPE, emergency response, and housekeeping. While industry-specific courses (Construction Worker Safety, Healthcare Worker Safety) address sector hazards, this course provides the universal foundation.
The curriculum covers workplace hazard categories, slip/trip/fall prevention, manual handling and ergonomic awareness, chemical hazard awareness (HazCom basics, SDS, labels), fire prevention and extinguisher awareness, electrical safety for non-electrical workers, PPE selection and use, emergency response (evacuation, alarms, first aid awareness), housekeeping standards, reporting hazards and incidents, worker rights, and personal safety responsibility. All training is delivered 100 percent online through the American Institute of Safety Professionals LMS. Upon completion, graduates receive a certificate, wallet card, and transcript, employer-verifiable at amiosp.com/student-verifications.
